What is the best sandwich ever? Eating while watching #MKR

The best sandwich for me is a battered fish and coleslaw sandwich with white bread. I’ve written about this sandwich on the old Yummy Lummy blog

This morning I came across a post by Pat Geyer aka the Ranting Chef about a competition he’s running on his blog about sandwiches. It got me thinking about having a sandwich for dinner.

A lot of options went through my mind but after a late meeting I thought it would be easier to go to the Jamison Takeaway and pick up some fish and potato scallops.

Here you go my new and improved favourite sandwich. Please check out the story from the old blog for the history to this and for more information on the Jamison Takeaway which I reckon is the best takeaway in Canberra.

So I fried off the sesame seed bun in some grapeseed oil and on the top piece I spread some Persian feta. On the bottom half of the bun I put a potato scallop and then some kale coleslaw and the added the battered fish.

I can highly recommend this sandwich.

  1. My favorite sandwich? I have many…I love a hot pastrami on rye with just mustard. I love a good salami sandwich with lettuce, onions, mustard, mayo, dill pickles and provolone cheese. Grilled ham with cheddar. Hot turkey with gravy and mashers. Or, a cold turkey with pepper jack cheese! Your sandwich looks really good!

  2. It irks that the home of fish and chips serves up fish half the size of that in Australia. Another reason to leave this Sceptred Isle!

    1. You’re always welcome 🙂 I really don’t like how smaller lighter servings are regarded as better. We all know that bigger is better. You need to stop your countrymen like Mr Oliver from trying to change how the residents of the dominions and former dominions eat. I don’t mind watching his 15 minute meals but his so called ministry of food television programs don’t interest me at all.
Mr Fat Duck opened in Melbourne last night with something like 16 courses for >$500 per person.
