Hawaiian holiday day 1

We arrived at the Honolulu International Airport yesterday for our Hawaiian holiday aboard Qantas QF3 SYD to HNL. The flight was comfortable and smooth on board the Airbus 330. If you want to see photographs of the meals prior to, during the flight and last night please check out YummyLummyBlog on Instagram.

Today we got up early because we had a tour going out to Pearl Harbor to see the USS Arizona memorial, the battleship USS Missouri and the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl).

For breakfast I sought out and enjoyed spam and eggs.

For lunch I had a chili dog with sauerkraut and pickled jalopeño pepper.

For dinner we found a Japanese noodle restaurant known as the Ringer Hut and I had pork and kimchi hotpot.

I’ve added some of the photographs from Pearl Harbor into a slideshow gallery. When I get more time I’ll process as many of the photographs as possible and post them. You can see some on my main instagram account garydlum.

  1. Aloooooooooooooha! Malasadas from Leonard’s Bakery, Coco Puffs from Liliha Bakery, Poi Donuts from Kamehameha Bakery, Helena’s Hawaiian Food, roasted meats and poke from Alicia’s Market. That’s just the start. Happy eating!

Oh yeah, Rainbow Drive in, plate lunch, local style.

  2. Breakfast looks really good! I love that they serve rice with the food. When I was on Oahu we took a drive around the island. There is a fantastic garden on the northern side of the island call Waimea. Highly recommend seeing that and the diving into the pools of water. We also did some snorkeling. Hilo Hatties has great deals and can ship items home for you.

Be sure to try the Dole Whips! They are delicious! We had one every day! Enjoy your holiday!

    1. Thanks Barb, I didn’t see Dole Whips yesterday but we’re still looking. I hope to do lots of snorkeling.

  3. Who doesn’t like spam, Gary? What a great choice of breakfast. Enjoy Hawaii. Never been there, but your photos sure show how a scenic place it is 🙂
