Crust Supreme Pizza aka the Bowel Carcinoma Special

Crust meat supreme pizza with anchovies

For some reason last night I had a craving for pizza. It started at about 8 pm after I’d eaten some baked salmon and coleslaw with pomegranate arils.

So today I’ve been hankering for a pizza. One the way home I stopped in at the Belconnen Crust outlet and bought a Crust Supreme with extra anchovies. Yes, I love those little furry salty dried fish.

So why do I call it a bowel carcinoma special? Well last week I wrote about a recent announcement from the International Agency for Research on Cancer about the causal relationship between eating processed meats and bowel carcinoma. Supreme pizzas tend to be replete with processed meats, especially ham, bacon and sausages. I figure a pizza every now and then isn’t a problem.

The Crust Supreme contains Smoked Ham, Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Mushrooms, Fresh Capsicum, Spanish Onions, Pineapple & Kalamata Olives on a Tomato base (All pizzas topped with 100% Australian Mozzarella cheese).

I ate the entire pizza. I’ve been known in my youth to eat more than a family sized pizza. I love the stuff.

Do you like pizza? What is your favourite topping? I often prefer a plain cheese, tomato and basil pizza with no meat.

  1. When I first started reading this I thought you were going to give in to your first craving and order the pizza after having the salmon and coleslaw! Glad the willpower muscle is still strong and you managed to put it off to the next day 🙂

    1. Thanks Brian. Given I’m usually in bed at 8.30 pm, giving in to my cravings would have meant crumbs in the sheets lol
