How to make crab with udon noodles? Indeed, by the time this is published I’ll be interstate attending a meeting for work. In anticipation I didn’t purchase any meat on Saturday and I needed to empty my refrigerator. I just threw together some stuff I had. Fortunately the shelf of shame had a tin of crab meat and some udon noodles. With a little pouring cream and Coon cheese a creamy cheesy dinner was guaranteed. In many ways this crab with udon noodles is a great comfort food dish.
- Udon noodles
- Tinned crab
- Pouring cream
- Coon cheese
- Parsley
- Spring onion
- Avocado
- Nuts
- Butter
- Cook the udon noodles for 8 minutes in boiling water
- Drain the noodles
- Add the butter
- Add a tin of crab meat
- Add the cheese
- Return to the heat and pour in some cream
- Once the liquid has reduced add everything else and then plate up
- Shoot a photograph
- Eat the meal
- Write the recipe
- Blog (verb)
So the crab with udon noodles tasted pretty good in it’s creamy cheesy sauce.

Yum! And what is the shelf of shame Gary? I’m intrigued!
Oh Lorraine, it can cans of spam and tinned corned beef plus some chocolate, lots of tinned salmon and sardines. From time to time it has bottles of sauerkraut. The sort of stuff some of us love but others eschew.
That looks really delicious! Wow, your refrigerator indeed knew which ingredients to keep. And it came up with a lovely dish!
Thank you very much I certainly enjoyed it 😃
I think we all have a Shelf of Shame, good on you for finding a tasty way to use up what you had
Thanks Elissa. My shelf of shame also has spam and tinned corn beef 😃
That looks and sounds delicious. I’ve been craving fresh crab for a while now.
I wish this was fresh crab. If it was FNQ or NT mud crab though I wouldn’t waste it in a noodle dish. I’d either have chilli crab or just freshly boiled and chilled with garlic aioli.
