Monday link love

It’s been a pleasant rainy day in Canberra. It was nice leaving Brisbane yesterday and arriving to rain in Canberra. It made the moisture transition for my skin so much easier.

Monday link love from Canberra Food Bloggers Facebook group is quite exciting today.

Serena made some tasty fritters. Anna is into beer. Michele went to her first Canberra cooking circle. Elissa is using up pumpkins and butternut squash. Shari is pregnant (oops that’s old news). Shari is making empanadas. Rose has been doing some travelling on canals in Suzhou and Wuxi. Bec tells us about the Harvest Society. Liz shares what’s in her kitchen in May 2016. Erin is embedding new habits.

  1. It looks like you are a big fan of salmon, Gary. Every so often I come to your blog or look at your Instagram, I will see you eat a salmon dish that you cook yourself 😀 When my mum comes around to my place, she likes to cook me salmon – fried salmon in the pan and it comes out with crispy skin 😀

In regards to the previous comment about avocado: last week on Friday after work at 5pm, I went to Coles in the city to buy avacado for the weekend avo on toast brunch. They all sold out. Then I went to Woollies a 10 minute walk away. Also sold out 😀

    1. Salmon is such a decadent meat. It tastes so good. Given the health advice about avoiding too much red meat salmon is a good alternative.
I’m looking forward to the return of Hass Avocados soon. The Shepherds have been surprisingly good but they’re so expensive.

      1. It is so true that salmon is better than red meat. Don’t know about you, but I like eating mashed salmon with rice sometimes 😀

I was at Coles earlier today and the Shepherds were on special at $1.90/piece. But what was left were quite small avocados, but I bought one and think there will be enough avo to spread over three pieces of toast for breakfast tomorrow 😀

    1. Would you believe that on returning to Canberra on Sunday evening there was not an avocado to be found at Westfield Belconnen Coles. I was in a rush and didn’t hunt one down from Woolworths or the fruit and veg shop. It’s a tragedy I know. What I’m flattered about though is that you noticed. 😃

    1. Thank you very much Lisa. If Canberra was at sea level and near the ocean and north of the Tropic of Capricorn it would be the perfect place in the world to live. I just hope no one ever says baked salmon is bad for me 😃
