It’s been a good week. A busy week but a good week. Yesterday an election was held to determine the Australian government. Unlike the previous election when the conservative coalition (Liberal Party and National Party) won convincingly, we still do not know which party will govern and who our Prime Minister will be. Under our ‘caretaker’ conventions, a new government, the 45th government, will not be sworn in until the result is clear. Counting will resume on Tuesday so we will continue to wait. Last week I mentioned how I voted early to avoid crowds and queues. I had thought I may attend a polling venue or two to check out the sausage sizzles and cake stalls. It was interesting to read on Twitter how many people went for a #democracysausage Twitter was pretty cool in that when #ausvotes was used a little character of a sausage on a piece of white bread would appear in the tweet.
Yesterday a Facebook friend and I were discussing VLOGging so I had a go. I’m sorry about the volume changing midway. I’m not sure if I’ll do more, but it was pretty easy. My only problem is that the upload speeds I get with Telstra ADSL is pretty slow and it takes hours to upload a short video to YouTube.
Friday was a funny day (funny in a good way). I turned up to work (Fridays are my clinical duties day, I’m an Honorary Visiting Medical Officer in ACT Pathology at The Canberra Hospital) and noticed my laboratory coat was hooked over three hooks. I thought that was a little unusual. I continued to my work area and then I saw an old photograph from my Facebook profile on a whiteboard. It’s an old photograph that had been altered by a former work colleague in 2010. A mullet had been added and my head was put on another person’s neck. It looks pretty funny. As I continued I found copies in all sorts of unusual places, behind doors, on doors, in draws, under keyboards, on staplers, and you guessed it behind my laboratory coat. It’s nice to be considered by my work mates as someone worthy of having fun.
I don’t have a heap of food photographs from this week. I was a little unwell early in the week and didn’t feel like eating much or photographing my food.
I hope you had a good week and enjoyed some fine food.

Your lime chips on gaucomole in a seeded ciabatta roll should go on sandwich shop menus deeeeelicious.
Thank you. It was delicious. You never know, one day I may just make another career change 😃
Sorry for late reply your reply went into our spam box just found it.
Yes we used to know a sandwich bar who asked their customers for sandwich filling inspiration & used to post those they liked on their sandwich board it was difficult to keep out of the shop because aside from a few favorites they used to add new fillings from their customers regularly so there was always something new to discover.
I have a local takeaway which will do sandwiches to order. One of my favourites is so simple but so delicious. Battered fish with coleslaw on white bread.
That sounds good too, Could replace the kebab after a few beers 🙂
A late night kebab is always a good thing!
🙂
Glad to hear you are on the mend. Love the photos by the lake. I did not know that Canberra can be so cold in the winter. I have not been to Australia. You have a GSOH.
I hear your cry about having KFC 2x in a row. In my case, it was cakes. We don’t have good cakes in where I used to live in Turkey. I’m currently in London for a short stay to process my work visa for my next job. As I have not stopped since September, my brain has been well and truly fried. I saw this sign outside a well known cake shop that I am familiar with, ‘a slice of cake and and a coffee for £1.’ Yes, please. Coffee from Konditor & Cook for £1! The coffe was fab. Next day, my eyes fall on this slab of flourless (less calories ???) chocolate gateau. It looked so good. Yes, please. I took a picture of my gateau and post it to a Turkish teen with the words, ‘I have sinned big time. 2 cakes in 2 days😔😳
IMHO there is nothing wrong with repeating the same cake two days in a row. You need to verify that the first cake wasn’t a one off fluke of genius.
Cold KFC is a highly underrated food.
That picture is awesome, and I am glad your colleagues can make fun.
You do realize that you are now literally publishing crap on your blog.
Yep, I’ve done it before too, last winter. The good thing is WordPress seems to allow this filth lol
Gary your plating of your Fluff Nutella treat looks rather fancy indeed! Haha at the mullet pic 😛
The Fluff Nutella was awesome. It needed its own plate 😃😋
Those lake photos are amazing.
Thank you very much Elissa. I really enjoy making those pictures.
Funny photograph! Some guys did look like that in the early 80s.
Yep and I can say in the 1980s I had hair but not like that 😆
Hope you’re feeling better.
Thank you brother, much better
My, my Gary. Although you were sick for part of the week, it looked like a good week in food for you. You really made the most of your KFC, spacing it out over three meals. While I like the chicken breast at KFC, my favourite item off their menu is their popcorn chicken. Pity it is so expensive 😀
That Photoshop of you looks very, very seamless and real. For a moment I thought you actually looked like that when you were younger 😀 It is not a bad look at all.
Lovely crisp winter shots. While the view is lovely, I hope it isn’t too cold for you over there in Canberra. We are in for a cold one in Melbourne this week.
Oh Mabel, it has been very cold this week. Each morning has been subzero. It’s usually about –4 °C with a wind chill that feels like –7 °C. I’m so grateful I have an heater than comes on at 4 am.
Each time I have KFC I know I shouldn’t do it again but I like the skin and the secret herbs and spices. My favourite piece is the thigh and wings. I hit the jackpot this time, the sales assistant gave me a heap of thighs and drumsticks.
I love that we can now manipulate pixels so much we can alter perception. While I wasn’t responsible for that photograph, I like that I continue to learn skills in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
I hope you have a great week.
