Christmas 2016 greetings from Yummy Lummy

Merry Christmas dear readers

If you don’t celebrate Christmas, I hope you’re enjoying whatever it is you celebrate.

If you don’t celebrate at all, I wish you a safe and peaceful day.

I just wanted to share a piece of art that my friend Jennifer did for me to celebrate Christmas.

I hope whatever you’re eating today is as tasty as I reckon this barbeque pig would taste after slowing turning and cooking for a few hours.

Looking back over 2016

This year (2016) has been pretty good for me. It started with a holiday in Hong Kong with my daughters. It was the best holiday ever. I really loved spending nine nights there and spending time with my girls. We did a lot of things including a lot of shopping. For me, the highlight was the food. OMG! I ate so much.

Work has been very fulfilling and very rewarding. I tend not to write much about work, but I am fortunate to have excellent and very supportive bosses right up to the secretary of the department. I’ve also loved being able to continue practising medicine in ACT Pathology at The Canberra Hospital. I have the perfect balance work wise.

I’m also experiencing a great balance in life too. As well as blogging here at Yummy Lummy, I’ve started a YouTube channel with some videos on the food I eat. If you have watched them I hope you enjoy them. I’d love it if you would leave comments, like the videos and subscribe.

Podcasting is fun

The other thing I’ve started this year is a podcast named Medical Fun Facts. It’s a great outlet for my sense of humour coupled with my professional interest as opposed to my food interests.

Work has been great

Work has seen me visit Manila and Helsinki this year for various aspects of the work I do.

I love reading other blogs

I’ve also been enjoying reading blogs from quite a lot of bloggers.

I’d like to shout out to my friends who I share comments with and who regularly comment on Yummy Lummy.

So I hope you had a good 2016. Did you start something new? Did you stop anything? What has been your highlight for 2016?

For 2017, I hope to do much of the same, working, blogging, YouTube and podcasting, and of course eating! What are you planning for 2017?

I’d love it if you followed me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Please subscribe to my YouTube channel and please check out my podcast and subscribe via iTunes.

Catch you soon.

PS. One thing I do mourn now at Christmas is that my favourite Christmas song, viz., Six White Boomers, is now dead to me because of the criminal behaviour of Rolf Harris toward women (the link opens an NSFW photograph).

  1. Many thanks for the shout out! I’m so glad to have gotten to know you in 2016. It’s funny you should mention the Hong Kong trip, because I’m pretty sure that’s when I started dropping by. I can’t believe the year has flown by so quickly!

  2. It does sound like you have a great work-life balance there, Gary. It also all sounds very busy and I wonder how you manage it all. Maybe you are really just that good 😀

At first I read, ” I really loved spending nine nights SHOPPING” LOL. Though you said you did shopping, I am sure you didn’t do it for nine nights straight.

Thank you for the shout out. Very kind of you, Gaz. I’ve really enjoyed Yummy Lummy and the focus on meals for one. I live on my own in a flat (sharing with my brother), and I am trying very hard not to bulk-cook my meals on the weekends however much it saves time 😀 This year has been a challenging one for me on so many levels, and I am very much looking forward to 2017 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Mabel. It has been great getting to know you and I love reading your posts.
While many nights were dedicated to shopping, one night at Disneyland and one night at the Peak were relatively light in terms of shopping. I’m just grateful that my daughters love to shop but that doesn’t always mean a love to purchase. We spent so much time looking and browsing. The great thing is they seemed to feel no discomfort in having me close by while they were in Victoria Secret or a similar type of shop. I’d love to do it all over again. Maybe in Singapore. Who knows.

      1. Looking but not buying things at the shops is always fun. So much choice, and when you travel you most of us have some kind of budget. You are cool to go and browse into Victoria Secret’s and those kinds of shops 😀

Looking forward to more posts from you soon and enjoy summer. I know I am 😀

  3. Dear Gary, thank you so much for the lovely shout out!! I hope you’re having a really wonderful, merry Christmas and that you’re eating something delicious! 😀 P.S. I hadn’t actually heard of Rolf Harris’ song but yeah anything to do with him has pretty much been ruined. Ugh.

    1. Thank you Lorraine, I just had some duck. You can imagine I enjoyed the cloaca, neck and thigh 😋😋😋

  4. Merry Christmas for you Gary and thank you for the mentioning of my blog too.
I like to read your blog, I’m usually not much in for video’s, but I like to see your cooking, even I live vegetarian. I haven’t had a TV for about 10 years either.
Wish you all good luck with all your new projects, also in 2017.
    Irene

  5. Merry Christmas Gary. I have enjoyed reading your posts in 2016 and followed your travels in HK with your girls. Even though I am. Strict vegetarian I like to read your cooking posts and also like to hear about what you buy to eat. All the best for 2017 also.

  6. Sounds like a great year Gary. I’ve had a pretty good, busy year – full of new Canberra adventures, including three new jobs (the first two were contracts), a new home and new friends. And discovered some great new cafes here!
I always enjoy your posts. Happy Xmas and a great 2017 to you!

    1. Thank you very much Alex. I love reading about your life and that of Spider Man too! Let’s hope 2017 is a good one for everyone.
