Ribs and Rumps Sydney Olympic Park

Tonight Bron and I had dinner at Ribs and Rumps at Sydney Olympic Park. Bron had read the foursquare tips earlier and noticed many negative comments about the quality of the food and the service.

Shortly after that I received a call from the restaurant to explain that on street parking would be difficult tonight because of the Royal Easter Show. That was nice of them to do that.

On our arrival, our reservation was confirmed and we were led to a great table near a window which gave us a good view into the restaurant and outside.

Throughout the evening the wait staff were friendly and attentive. Our requests were taken and we were pretty happy.

The restaurant has a challenge consisting of 1 kg of rump plus a full rack of ribs. I elected to go for something similar but lighter. I had a 500 g prime rib steak and a half rack of lamb ribs. This came with chips and a creamy pepper sauce.

Seriously good steak knives and big condiment dispensers are a signature.

Bron asked for a calamari entrée and I helped.

And here's my 500 g prime rib on the bone with a half rack of lamb ribs. Bron had a rib eye fillet steak.

I was given a bib to wear.

This is what happiness looks like :-)

I'm a good boy and have finished my plate.

Bron had a sticky date pudding

Despite the tips posted through foursquare we were very happy with our meal. I rate this meal highly and would recommend the restaurant to anyone.

I have decided to grow my winter coat with a hamburger and ice cream

Sure it’s Autumn, but this is Canberra. It’s absurdly cold. We haven’t had a Summer.

After a long week, I didn’t want to prepare anything complicated. I decided on a hamburger and ice cream.

Wagyu beef hamburger pattie. I love butter and barbecue sauce.

Doesn't look nice and neat on the plate.

Ice cream and whipped cream. YUM.

I feel fat but I’m full of goodness from today

I had two meals today. I know that’s not ideal but each was quite filling. Not as filling as yesterday’s but filling just the same. I woke up this morning without much of an appetite and then I remembered Bron was going to make Crème Brûlée French toast this morning and my appetite came back with a vengeance.

This recipe also calls for drunken strawberries which were really nice. we also elected to add some whipped cream from a can.

I went for a decent walk this afternoon but I don’t know that I burned enough emergy :-)

This afternoon after a little ironing I started preparing dinner. I still had a piece of New York strip steak left and I thought it would make a nice Beef Wellington.

Beef Wellington is one of my favourite meals. It is so rich and unctuous especially when made with Pâté and mushroom Duxelles.

Laid out I have almost everything ready. New york strip steak, butter, onion, prunes, mushrooms, and parsley.

I love making pepper sauce with green pepper corns in brine.

After yesterday’s meal and with the steak and Pâté today I hope I don’t have a gout attack this week.

I really enjoyed making this meal and eating it.

Yep @PeskyPippi and @TheBernieBrand I got whipped cream

Not long ago @SarcasmFairy introduced us to @TheBernieBrand who introduced us to @PeskyPippi. One of the first things mentioned was whipped cream in a can and sending an image of a nozzle in one’s mouth inhaling whipped cream. I’ve never touched a can let alone had whipped cream from a can.

Yesterday while at Costco we saw, snaffled and bought a catering version of cream in a can from New Zealand. I’ve commented previously on fine produce from New Zealand in a post that is not meant to be mentioned in polite company.

So if you visit PeskyPippi’s website and go through the recent posts you’ll come across Got Whipped Cream? I Dare Ya On this you’ll come across a variety of tweeps who have had a nozzle in their mouth and swallowed.

I’m hoping PeskyPippi will download this image of me and post to her page.

I’m grateful to @bron99 for her photography assistance.

There are other images but this one was the safest to send.
