Footy food for state of origin 3

Check out the Stop Press at the end of this post.

So for the first two games I had chicken wings. Tonight I felt lazy and thought takeaway was the answer to my footy food dilemma. But what to buy?

I thought fish and chips with potato scallops or pizza or beef rendang or Thai curry or even Chinese. But then it came to me, Turkish. I haven’t had a Turkish takeaway for ages. I have a Turkish takeaway close to where I live but it’s rubbish so I went to my favourite Turkish takeaway, viz., Turkish Pide House in Jamison.

I didn’t want to eat too much so I thought I’d get a couple of chicken kebabs and some zucchini balls.

The Turkish Pide House is well known for its generous servings. I didn’t realise I would be eating six zucchini balls each the size of a cricket ball.

Before we get to dinner here’s some of what I ate today…

I am so blessed by great work friends. Look what a friend gave me this morning. It was delicious.

So here are a few photographs of dinner. Six zucchini balls and two chicken kebabs with rice, salad and garlic aioli.

The good news dear readers is that the Mal’s Mighty XXXX Maroons defeated the NSW Blues 52:6 in a comprehensive victory that demonstrated excellence in attack and defence. I usually prefer a tight tough game with a small margin, however, after a lot of trash talking by NSW supporters and especially the NSW Captain it was sweet to see Cam Smith, Jonathan Thurston, Cooper Cronk and Justin Hodges have a brilliant game. A lot of people dislike Justin Hodges but he is one of my favourite players. His ‘never say die’ attitude like all the Maroons (unlike some Australian tennis players) makes him the champion he is.
