Serious eating in Brisbane

Unlike the regular recipe posts on Yummy Lummy, this post is about what I ate while in Brisbane last week.

Serious eating is serious business for Canberra’s Eating Machine! I was visiting my parents and because their 54th wedding anniversary occurred during the week I wanted to do some serious eating with Mum and Dad.

I also used this week as an opportunity to write a few more Google Maps reviews so I’ve tried to embed them in this post so if you’re ever in Brisbane you can try these places out.

    1. Thank you JM. They are, and I owe so much of myself and who I am to them. Thanks for stopping by XO

    1. Hello Karen, for reasons only the WordPress wizards know, your comment got caught in my Spam folder.

  1. Best wishes to your parents!
That soft shell crab plating? “Release the Kraken!”
And the chicken foot pic? Epic monster movie. Hee hee.

    1. I love a soft shelled crab reaching out and ready to attack 😂
Chicken feet would be more palatable than zombies 🤪

  2. Blimey Gary – that was a week of very good food! Loved the story of your mum’s pregnancy too. The best food I had this week was battered fish and mushy peas eaten by the shores of Loch Fyne. I don’t like pineapple fritters, though maybe I’ve never had a good one and I don’t do Google map reviews but I do a lot of TripAdvisor ones.

    1. It’s hard to beat a good battered fish, Emma.
I’ve done some TripAdvisor reviews, but I find Google much easier.

  3. I love that you made the most of every opportunity and I loved seeing it all set out like this! You’ve got gorgeous parents. Your mum is so beautiful!

    1. Thank you very much Lorraine. I love them to bits. It was a good week in so many ways.

  4. Wow Gary! So many delicious eats in one post. Even though Canberra at the moment is FREEZING I could still smash a tub of that milo ice cream. I’d swap out the white Tim Tam for a choc one though.

  5. Please tell your Mum and Dad that I said, Happy Anniversary. It is good to meet the parents of one of my favorite chefs!!

  6. Congratulations and Happy 54th Anniversary to your parents! Sounds like a real smorgasbord of foods.

I stick to fruit smoothies and gluten free products. With my food allergies fried foods dairy and fast food send me to the hospital. Spicy food is also out of the question .

Once I retire end of August 29th I will move more towards natural foods. I do drink bone broth but pretty much most foods irritate my stomach so it’s smoothies and soups for me.

    1. Sorry to read of your food allergies.
I had a marvelous time with my parents.
I’m now back in Canberra feeling cold.

  7. A wonderful week of good food, Gaz. That deep fried pineapple thing sounds amazing. Must have been crunchy. Also wonderful cake by Ms 21 with the most amazing ingredients. It looked like an ice-cream cake? 😀

    1. It was a three-layered ice cream cake Mabel and it was amazing.
I feel so full of food. You may hear me laughing when I weigh in tomorrow morning 😂😂😂
The pineapple fritter was out of this world 👍👍👍
