Restaurant Review Casa Cibo Italian Westfield Chermside

Casa Cibo Italian is a two storey restaurant in the new food precinct of Westfield Chermside.

I was there with my parents and two youngest daughters to celebrate multiple birthdays and Mother’s Day.

The menu is pretty standard for an Australian Italian restaurant and includes Italian bread dishes, pizzas, noodles (pasta), lots of garlic, meaty dishes and Italian desserts.

While most of the tables are on the open floor, on the second storey around the walls are some very cool little grotto-like booths. We got to sit in one of these cool booths and noticed while it was noisy on the open floor, we could hear each other speak in the grotto.

Our waiter was very exuberant and enthusiastic. He was very keen to share with us the various items on the drinks menu and introduce us to the specials for the evening.

We were all pretty hungry so for starters, we asked for a couple of plates of arancini balls, a couple of plates of crumbed mushrooms with aioli and a plate of mixed olives. We got these in the middle of the table and shared everything.

For our main courses, Mum wanted crab linguine but it was off the menu tonight. Ms21 asked for mushroom risotto. Dad asked for a pepperoni pizza while Ms17 had her favourite Margherita pizza. Mum and I ended up asking for lamb Osso Bucco. I also asked for a side of truffle chips for everyone.

We all enjoyed the food and as you might imagine there was a fair bit of sharing of main courses too.

Casa Cibo Italian is a pretty reasonable restaurant with a reasonably diverse menu. The service at Casa Cibo Italian is fast and friendly. It wasn’t the cheapest meal, but it wasn’t outrageous either. Booking a table was easy through the website and the confirmatory e-mail and text messages were issued promptly.

I’d be happy eating at Casa Cibo Italian again and may do so when I visit Brisbane again.

We were too full to eat a large dessert so we walked around the food precinct and had a gelato.

  1. Love your sharing starter ideas and always a sucker for gelato!

  2. That looks like it was a fun family meal. I used to hang out at Chermside a long time ago as my gym was there. Like another paradigm, so different to my Canberra life now.

    1. The new food precinct in Chermside is really cool Serina. I’d happily live in Chermside now.

  3. How good is that extension at Chermside??!! I was there a few weeks ago when visiting my brother, and couldn’t believe how nice that outside eatery area is. So lush with the water features and lounge seating outside. Thanks for the insight into Casa Cibo, it looks like a nice Italian eatery.

    1. It’s fantastic Kirsty. There are so many good places to eat. I wish Westfield Belconnen would have a food precinct like that.

  4. Oh wow what a spread… the osco busco looks delicious! Which restaurant in Canberra would you say serves the best Italian food, Gary?

  5. Looks like a great meal out in Brisbane with the fam, Gaz. The pizzas look amazing, and I hope you enjoyed your lamb osso bucco. Lovely to hear there was sharing of main courses and hope you got to try the pizza. Gelato treat too. Going all out this weekend it seems. Enjoy and hope your hip isn’t too bad from the shower slip.

    1. It’s full indulgence this weekend Mabel.
I still have some pain and I’m limping a little.
It’s been good being in Brisbane though.
